Chemical Peels · Pre & Post CareBefore & After Your Treatment
Simple steps to get the best results from custom chemical peels and the Radiant Glo Peel, and what to expect while you heal.
These are general guidelines. Your provider may give you instructions that are specific to your treatment. Always follow those first. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911.
Step 1
Before Your Appointment
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days before your peel.
- Avoid moderate sun exposure, sunburn and self-tanner for 2 weeks.
- Skip waxing, laser and other exfoliating treatments on the area for 1 week.
- Tell us about any medications, skin conditions or Accutane use in the past 6 months.
Step 2
After Your Treatment
- Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours.
- Do not pick, peel or scrub flaking skin. Let it come off on its own.
- Use a gentle cleanser, a plain moisturizer and SPF 30+ every day.
- Avoid heat and heavy sweating for 24 to 48 hours.
- Restart retinoids and acids only after peeling has fully stopped.
Don’t Worry
What’s Normal
- Redness, tightness or mild flaking for a few days.
- More active peels may cause visible peeling for several days.
- Brighter, smoother skin once peeling finishes, usually within a week.
