755nm Alexandrite Laser

The Technology

We use the 755nm Alexandrite wavelength on our Motus laser platform to treat pigmentation. The 755 Alex is one of the most effective wavelengths available for targeting melanin — it is selectively absorbed by pigmented cells while leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The Motus in-motion delivery system applies this energy evenly across the treatment area, making treatments more comfortable and consistent than traditional static-pulse lasers. The result is precise, controlled clearance of pigmented lesions with minimal risk to the surrounding tissue. This wavelength is particularly well-suited for sunspots, age spots, and superficial hyperpigmentation, and can be safely adjusted for a range of skin tones.

Questions & Answers

What wavelength do you use for pigmentation?

We use the 755nm Alexandrite wavelength on our Motus laser platform. The 755 Alex is highly effective at targeting melanin and is one of the gold-standard wavelengths for pigmentation correction. Your provider will confirm the appropriate settings for your skin tone and pigmentation type at your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

Many clients see meaningful improvement after a single session. For deeper or more widespread pigmentation, a series of 2 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is typically recommended. Melasma may require a more gradual approach.

What does the skin look like after treatment?

Treated spots often darken slightly in the days following treatment — this is normal and means the pigment is responding. The darkened spots will naturally flake off over 1 to 2 weeks, revealing clearer skin beneath. Avoid picking or scrubbing the area.

Is there any downtime?

Most clients return to normal activities the same day. We recommend avoiding intense heat, sun exposure, and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. SPF must be applied diligently during the healing period.

Is this treatment safe for my skin tone?

The 755 Alex wavelength is most effective on lighter to medium skin tones. For clients with deeper skin tones, your provider will assess your Fitzpatrick type and may adjust the protocol or recommend an alternative approach to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Can laser make my pigmentation worse?

In most cases, no — but melasma is a hormonally driven condition that can occasionally flare with laser energy. Your provider will discuss your specific pigmentation type at your consultation and recommend the safest approach, which may include a combination protocol.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. Come in with clean skin and no makeup. Discontinue retinoids and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days prior. Your provider will review full pre-care instructions at your consultation.

Can I combine this with other treatments?

Yes. Pigmentation correction pairs well with other skin rejuvenation treatments. Your provider can recommend a combination approach — such as pairing with a chemical peel or the full MoveoGlo treatment — based on your skin goals.

What is the best laser for sun spots and age spots?

The 755nm Alexandrite wavelength is one of the most effective for sun spots and age spots on lighter to medium skin tones because melanin absorbs it so well. Your provider will confirm the best option for your skin at a consultation.

Can laser remove dark spots on my face, chest and hands?

Yes. Pigmentation correction can treat sun spots and dark spots on the face, neck, chest and hands. Your provider will map out the areas and number of sessions at your consultation.

How do I keep dark spots from coming back?

Daily broad-spectrum SPF is the most important step, along with medical-grade skincare like brightening serums. Occasional maintenance sessions help keep tone even.

Precautions & Candidacy

Sun Exposure

Avoid direct sun exposure and self-tanner for at least 2 weeks before and after treatment. Active tans significantly increase the risk of side effects including burns or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ must be worn daily throughout your treatment series.

Skin Tone and Fitzpatrick Type

The 755 Alex wavelength is most effective on lighter to medium skin tones. Clients with deeper skin tones may require adjusted settings or an alternative approach. Your provider will assess your Fitzpatrick type at your consultation to determine the safest and most effective protocol.

Melasma Considerations

Melasma is a hormonally driven condition that can be unpredictable with laser treatment. In some cases, laser energy can temporarily worsen melasma. Your provider will discuss whether laser is the right approach for your melasma or whether a combination protocol is more appropriate.

Medications

Certain medications — including photosensitizing drugs, retinoids, and some antibiotics — may affect your candidacy or require a waiting period before treatment. Disclose all current medications and supplements at your consultation.

Pregnancy

Laser treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Please let your provider know if there is any possibility of pregnancy before your appointment.

Recent Treatments

If you have had recent chemical peels, microneedling, or other laser treatments in the area, a waiting period may be required. Your provider will review your full treatment history at your consultation.
